Greek Goddess by Eleni Romanias

I actually wrote the film script version of Greek Goddess before I even thought of making a graphic novel. As an actor, I wanted to write a story with a role I had never played before. I considered my own strengths and abilities to create the character I wanted to play and based the story around her.

Although I started this project to have fun, the more I got into the script and its mythological aspects, the more excited I got about finishing it. By the end, it became a passion project that I knew I needed to make happen. Being an unknown writer, it was hard to get the attention of established production companies.

After multiple attempts and learning to navigate the film production world, I knew that if I wanted this film to happen my best bet was to produce it myself. That’s how my production company, Little Pudd Productions, began.

As I was getting the film production process underway, I realized how well the story fits the anime/manga genre. I wanted the film to be live-action, so rather than making it animated, I decided to create an anime-style graphic novel to release in correlation with the film.

I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago, but before then I did some film work in Pittsburgh. I had predominantly worked in theater, but in college, I started to get more into film and television. Luckily, some fun productions have come through Pittsburgh. One of my favorite experiences was being an extra during filming for The Dark Knight Rises. I was in the scene they filmed at Heinz Field with thousands of other people, and it was incredible to watch. Because there were so many people, they often filmed sections at a time; it was so cool to watch this giant group of people reacting all at once.

I was fortunate enough to work on some independent films in Pittsburgh as well. Because of my experiences and the connections I made, I knew I wanted to come back to Pittsburgh to film Greek Goddess. We finished filming last month, and the film is officially in post-production which is the process of editing the film together. First, we go through all of the shots we filmed and edit the necessary footage together. Once the footage is cut, then the sound designer cleans up the audio and adds any sound effects and/or music. Once the film is fully completed, we will screen it to potential distributors. This will determine when and where the film is officially released.

Little Pudd Productions was only created to produce this one film, but depending on how things go, I am definitely not opposed to doing more!
