June 2021 Summer Reads for Adults

It’s been a long year and a half, and this summer is going to be great! We’ll be out and about and enjoying the outdoors. Some of us will be off on exciting vacations while others of us will be staying put and enjoying a staycation.

Whether you’ll be traveling or staying home, nothing beats a relaxing book or two to help you relax.

We have suggestions for summer reads and mystery thrillers and for our non-fiction readers we have some biographies and memoirs.

Seven days in June by Tia Williams – Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling author of erotic fiction. Shane Hall is a reclusive critically acclaimed author. The Bullet by Iris Johansen – The 27th book in the Eve Duncan Mystery series is scheduled for release on June 8, 2021. Be on of the first to read it. A happily ever after existence is threatened by the sudden arrival of a women on the run who has enough secrets to get them all killed.

Misjudged: a Legal Thriller by John Chandler – This is the first book in the Sam Johnstone series. Attorney Sam Johnstone is a disabled veteran looking for a fresh start with a boutique legal firm in tranquil Montana town. When a woman is brutally murdered, Sam discovers he might not have found his peaceful haven. The alleged killer, Tommy Olsen is a local delinquent who was sleeping with the victim. All the evidence points to Tommy, but after Sam meets with him, he’s convinced of the young man’s innocence. Who really committed this crime? The Pale Faced Lie: A True Story by David Crow – David Crow was raised on a Navajo Indian Reservation with his three siblings. The Eternal Summer by Curt Sampson – for golfers and anyone who loves the game - this book recounts the magic summer of 1960 when golfing great Ben Hogan was going for one more victorious season against Arnold Palmer, the workingman’s hero who made golf seem more accessible to the average guy and the golden-haired newcomer, Jack Nicklaus faced off in an epic battle of will and skill that shaped the future of the sport of golf.

Bossypants by Tina Fey – read the life story of one of America’s funniest and savviest celebrities. Tina Fey is a talented actress, comic genius, gifted writer, and savvy businessperson. As a little girl, she dreamed of being a comedian on TV, but she never imagined her dream career would enable her to do so much more than just make people laugh.

Not Tonight Josephine: A Road Trip Through Small Town America by George Mahood – This is the travel memoir of two British men, George and Mark who leave New York in a car they’ve named Josephine to discover the real America. Add a couple brushes with local law enforcement, Josephine’s penchant for breaking down in the worst of places, dwindling finances and a girlfriend back in England and stir for an entertaining and unique romp across America.
