The January 2026 Changes Quiz by Fran Joyce

Our first quiz of 2026 has multiple answers for each question by design. You can take it multiple times and come up with different correct answers as long as you follow the directions.

You’ve seen posts on social media about changing one word in the title of a book, song, movie, TV show, play, etc. It’s usually “substitute the name of a food or an animal, or an emotion.” These types of posts are fun and popular, so I thought, “Why not do this for our January 2026 quiz?”

I know you won’t see the dozens of alternate answers to your own, but I will post two responses for each set of instructions, and as I said, you can retake this “quiz” as many times as you like, share it with friends, and answer with multiple responses without anyone complaining about your “laundry list” stealing their answer.

Do we think alike? Let me know how many of our answers matched on our Facebook page, This Awful/Awesome Life. I will be posting each prompt on our page during the month of January, so you can play along this month and see how many other readers think like you. While you’re there, please like and follow our Facebook page. We won’t invade your page, and hopefully the Facebook algorithms will behave.

The quiz instructions are more precise, so you have to follow directions. We’ll pick the category (song, book, movie, TV show, play), sometimes we’ll even specify the works of a certain author or artist. You change one word, but you can also change “a” or “an” to pacify the grammar police.

For example: Substitute the name of a prescription drug with one word in the name/title  of the painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer. You could choose “Girl with an Amoxicillin Earring,” “Girl with an Ozempic Earring,” “Viagra with a Pearl Earring,” or “Girl with a Pearl Xanax.”

Have fun! I’ll try not to nab all the easy changes!
