Despite the controversies during the 2026 World Cup, we learned an important lesson. The American people embraced our foreign neighbors who came to watch their teams play. They liked us, even if they are at odds with the policies of our current administration, and we liked them. We served them our best regional specialties, and they came back for more. Suddenly, we weren’t “fast food” junkies and soulless capitalists; we were people just like them.
In celebration of this wonderful cultural exchange, we are featuring the word, “welcome.” May we always make others feel welcome. *
