May is Mystery Month in This Awful Awesome Life. Everybody loves a good mystery and our guest contributors are no exception.
I’m excited to bring you articles from two of our favorite authors, Annette Dashofy and Robin Barefield. Plus we have mystery themed articles from Orlando Bartro and Jackie Zataweski.
Our reading recommendations for kids and adults feature books from popular mystery series plus a little information about the series/authors.
This month I’m reviewing the first novels from two separate mystery series by Canadian author Luke Murphy who is climbing the list of my favorite contemporary mystery authors. We have a Q&A with Luke in this issue to help you get acquainted with this talented author.
Proper hand washing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs. We have included a link to the CDC website which covers hand washing basics and the proper use of hand sanitizers.
I’ve also listed a few often neglected areas around the house and in your car that probably need a quick wipe down. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can all open some windows and surround ourselves with fresh air while we shelter in place.
My deck may become my favorite spot, but it needs a lot of love. I’ll be sharing my progress in upcoming issues.
Linda Cahill has delicious and easy recipes from Pampered Chef to help usher in this warm spring weather.
Have you accepted our pie of the Month Challenge? I have photos and links to the recipes I used to prepare my April French Silk Pie which I served for dessert on Easter and my May Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. I doubled up in this issue, so I can share the recipes for each month’s pies in the correct month. I’m five pies into this series and I’ve rediscovered my love of baking. I have a few more recommendations for streaming television programs from around the world. I haven’t deserted my love of Australian TV, but I’ve embraced subtitles. Sometimes it’s a good thing when you let your mind wander – read my article to find out where I’ve “traveled” this month.

Samantha Sayers is still missing. She disappeared on August 1, 2018 after a day of solo hiking at Vesper Peak near Seattle, Washington. Sam was raised in the Erie, Pennsylvania area where her parents Ron and Lisa still live. Her family is exploring all avenues of inquiry to find and bring her home. In the face of such an enormous challenge, they have chosen hope. Please keep sending positive thoughts to Sam and her family. As promised, we will be displaying a yellow ribbon for Sam on the opening page of each issue of This Awful Awesome Life until she is home.
