"Mother Daughter Time" by Sheila Kirk

My daughter’s eleventh birthday had a “Pampering Theme.”

The treat bags were filled with nail polish, lip gloss, hair bows, and hand cream.

Around the dining room table, I had created a mini facial spa.

Almost like a demo from the Mary Kay lady.

Little mirrors, wash cloths, paper towels, and face masks. The party was a big hit for my daughter and her friends.

A couple of years later, I had a tea party for my daughter and her best friend. It was a beautiful late spring day. The tea was held on our deck.

The girls posed for photos in pretty dresses. They sipped tea from

their favorite teacups. I made cucumber and egg salad finger sandwiches. The sweet treats were petit fours and cookies.

The love of tea parties had us searching for and trying out local tea houses and venues that held “High Noon Tea’s.’’ We visited many local tea houses with family and friends.

After my mother passed away, my daughter surprised me with a

Mother’s Day tea party. It would become a cherished tradition between us.

During the Covid years, we had tea parties at our house and then at her apartment. We experimented with different sandwiches and

pastries. We even came across a three-tiered tea party serving tray.

I was gifted a tea party in January. Knowing my daughter was

moving to another city, it was a special day spent together.

This year, for Mother’s Day, my daughter gifted me a facial. It was a wonderful, pampering experience. It left my face glowing and radiant. The room was dimly lit with soft lights and tranquil music.

The massage table was heated and the scent of flowers filled the room.

Scrubs, lotions, and masks were applied to my face. Warm towels

were wrapped around my face and neck. That was my favorite part.

The grand finale was a neck and shoulder massage.

I am truly blessed to have such a thoughtful daughter. She really

knows how to pamper her mama. Thank you, Jill. I love you!
